Flowers illuminated at night. 2006, 2009, 2011.
This series started with the night-blooming orchid cactus, Epiphyllum oxypetalum. The flowers only open at night and for a few hours, closed by morning. I took the photo out of pure documentation in order to capture the rare sight (I don’t normally venture out in the evening to look at my flowers).
People ask me how I took the photos. Very simply: I used a flashlight. (The camera had trouble focusing in the dark when using the flash.)
