Art at Albany Bulb in spring. Albany, California, March 2016.

The Albany Bulb is a former landfill that has turned into a park and is home to urban art such as graffiti and sculptures. Visiting in spring after an El Nino winter of heavy rains, there was an abundance in lush greenery. It was an area of contrasts: rough concrete blocks and logs smelling of treatment chemicals among wildflowers and unmanaged plant growth. A jungle of wild plants growing over urban remnants. Human-shaped sculptures in frozen pose. Black asphalt next to black seaweed. An interesting area to explore and see art “in the wild”.
